Between Drawing and Sculpture

Harvey
Claire Harvey, “if this is then,” 2012.
Installation with overhead projectors, paint on transparencies, and paint on glass slides.
Clair Harvey’s beautiful work incorporates drawings pinned directly on the wall with others  projected from glass slides and mylar transparencies using multiple overhead projectors. The viewer, forced to walk in front of the projectors in order to move across the gallery, becomes a part of the mural in silhouette, adding the dimension of time to what becomes, oddly, a cinematic experience.

“If this is then” was including in the drawing show, “Making Room,” at MassMoCA, North Adams, Mass., in December.
